Abundance. Abundance is everywhere!
It pops up in the books I am reading, ‘The Artists Way’ by Julia Cameron, Marianne Williamson’s ‘The Law of Divine Compensation’, Gaby Bernstein’s ‘May cause Miracles’ – all talk about abundance.
It pops up in the groups I am in. One group is about healthy eating: foods that are good for your body and health. Another is about business support and friendship: helping each other, commenting, giving feedback, sharing our struggles and insights and growth. In both groups, members give abundantly of their time, knowledge and wisdom. The mindset is about abundance – there is enough for all.
Nature models this perfectly in the British summer time. Deciduous shrubs and trees parade in lush greenery; flowers burst with the most intense colours; there is non-stop birdsong all day long; lawns and hedges spread out everywhere. There’s no holding nature back in its exuberance and abundant displays.
This abundance mentality is an expansive idea. It opens the heart and mind and offers a world of possibilities. It’s about win-win.
Julia Cameron writes ‘it is critical that we pamper ourselves for the sense of abundance it brings to us.’
Pampering does not have to be expensive. This is not about big luxury cars, houses, clothing, jewellery or anything like that. This is about finding pleasure and that feeling of abundance in small things, simple things.
For instance, I bought a bunch of pink roses after pulling an Angel Card that suggested carrying a pink rose with me during the day and keeping one by my bedside. For once I followed the guidance, bought the roses, put one in a vase for my work space and moved it to my bedside at night. The others went in a vase on the dining room table. Every time I looked at the roses I just felt so good! And it gave the other members of the household great pleasure too.
The amazing thing was that this very, very, simple act of following the guidance, getting the pink roses, keeping one with me during the day and one by my bedside, made me feel extraordinarily good. The bonus was each time I looked at the roses I experienced a feeling of true abundance. I actually felt the feelings: warm, fuzzy and expansive; right there in my heart, opening the heart. It was wonderful; a gift I gave myself even though it started out a bit of a chore.
So no, abundance is not about large sums of money in the bank. It is about enjoying the simple pleasures, this moment, each moment as it shows up, because in that moment everything is perfect.
And it very much is about being kind to yourself.
So how about doing something simple that will make you feel good? Maybe it’s buying yourself a bunch of roses like I did, maybe it is indulging in dancing barefoot in the rain, maybe it is taking time to do some bird watching, subscribing to your favourite magazine or something else entirely.
Go on! Choose your luxury. Do it. Enjoy it wholeheartedly. And let me know how it was for you!
